Experience of driving across the Pirpanjal range from Ramban to Pahalgam.

The Chenab river across the deep gorges...
 Ramban .............................

The view of the kashmir region from top of pirpanjal....
After enjoying a sumptous lunch of Rajma-rice with lots of ghee at a roadside dhaba at PEERAH & enjoying the Baglihar Power project on Chenab river, its now 2-3 hrs drive thru' very high mountain range...very scary road, which runs zigzag until RAMBAN... the chenab river flowing thru' the gorges in between the high mountains made me go crazy; I kept clicking pic's as our driver kept driving at high speed.A heart stopping natural beauty.............As we drove on ,it was more & more awesome beauty---Just cann't express in words.Oh! that's thePirpanjal range ,standing tall as if to grasp us into its arms.

 As we drove thru' Anantnag....

The Lidder Valley....
Next it was the turn to cross the Jawahar tunnel which is 2.5km straight tunnel.... Military presence is widespread. As we crossed over to the otherside,we entered the KASHMIR REGION. Its Truely Jannat- a total another world. So ,long it was lot of sunshine &now in minutes its very very coldwithclouds, tall mapple trees all around the roadside. A picturque world altogether. We stopped a while at the view point & clicked pic's--- before we started the downhill drive into Kashmir region. Next stop was KAZIGHUND. After a hot cup of tea,its again time to drive thru' the tiny villages of the region.A out of the world experience... a straight drive thru' the valley until we reached KHANABAL, where we took the diversion towards ANANTNAG--- the region looked very tensed. Though the roads r good but hardly anyone to move thru'--- quite scarry but we kept driving thru' this valley to PAHALGAM,which was some 44kms drive....The Lidder Valley was too good .............
 PAHALGAM TOWN..................

By the time we reached Pahalgam, it was getting dark&we had to hurry to reach our hotel at Pahalgam. We checked into Hotel Highland at pahalgam & had to wait for the next day to experience the tiny town of Pahalgam.
