We started our journey from kolkata to Guwahati by flight. We were provided with a Tata-sumovictor by our travel agent to travel upto BHALUKPONG.We bypassed the city of Guwahati, across the Brahmaputra.... the surrounding area resembled very remote bengal village. After Tezpur, the road looked too bazaire...one can say, practically no road existed. We drove thru' jungles & muddydust engulfed our vehicle. it was almost dark by the time we reached the checkpost at Arunachal border. After our permits were sealed we entered into Bhalukpong, which is a tiny settlement & entry post to Arunachal pradesh...Our booking was at Hotel Solu. We were very exhausted by the time we reached our hotel & after a simple dinner ,we went off to sleep ...only to wakeup to a beautiful morning by the Bhalukpong river....
After a sumptous breakfast we started off for DIRANG( our next halt on our climb upto TAWANG).Next we stopped a while at Tipi Botanical Paradise. Its not maintained well& couldn't see any orchids bloom exceptthe plants in enclosed area. Then stated the uphill climb thru' broken roads, muddy stretches & constant twist & turns thru' the mountains. Soo we were welcomed by the thick Rainforest of Arunachal at SESSA.After that it was simply a terrible drive thru' the mountains & landslide stretches. I wasjust worried about our driver, who was getting restless with constant driving. Ultimately we reached BOMDILA around 2pm.It was quite misty & drizzling there. As we came out of the vehicle for lunch & bill payment at our travel agents office ,we could feel the chill outside. DIRANG is 42 Kms from Bomdila. It was amazing drive thru' the clouds but the roads were really very very bad.We took NH-229, by the time we reach Dirang ,it was almost 5pm.We were checked-inDirang Tourist Lodge. It was pretty good in such terrible terrain....... it was very very cold & we took out our woollens as we got out of our vehicle...Here mostly there's powercut, though rooms were provided with all facilities...The hot water wasjust a blessing in disguise at that hour. After a simple dinner ( roti, cauliflower curry & dal) we all went off to sleep ,as the journey next was very tough...
We had to get up early next morning as the road to TAWANG is almost 149kms from Dirang & we'll be crossing the SELA PASS,which remains frozen althroughout the year. We left our lodge at Dirang around 8am after clicking a bundle of Snaps of Dirang Valley in between the high mountains ,were the clouds and the snow on the mountain top ,provided us with a panoramic view of DIRANG VALLEY.The road now, went up & down & twist & turns thru' the hills & we were just amazed to see the Nature's Untouched Beauty. We were very worried about the SELA PASS & kept enquiring with every possible vehicles coming from Tawang side.... Next comes the road leading to Heaven, ----- its unexplainable beauty; the snow on the pine trees & roads allover...we were not surethat we r near to Sela Pass. Oh! what a site, i knew that Sela pass is world's 2nd highest motorable pass but i was not aware of such amazing sight of snowall over the mountains & the roads. The clouds could be reached by hands...Soon we came at a gate with a manuscript saying " WELCOME TO TAWANG"...We stopped a while to enjoy the snow & capture some memmorable moments...we came across a lake inbetween the snow, which just amazed me. it will ever remain as one of my best memmories....i kept saying one word-"its worth spending money to visit this place ,which i called HEAVEN.Next came Jaswantgarh memmorial. the site made me feel proud of our soldierswho wakesup to provide us a peaceful & comfortable living.Next came Jung -- mostly a military area.... oh ! now wecould seetheGomphas--its Tawang. By the time we checked in to our Hotel at Tawang ,it was 2pm.After Lunch & an hour break ,we went for sightseeing---Tawang Monestry,1962-Indo-China War memmorial. It was a very very cold night at Tawang...We all had to go off to sleep with a thought for a 8hrs drive the next morning from TAWANG to BOMDILA across the Sela pass. By the time we reached Bomdila next morning ,it was 4pm...We checked intoDUO-Ga-KYL Guest house, which primarily belongs to the monestry at Bomdila...It was very comfortable & had a picturous view from its balcony & windows....The next morning at BOMDILA was pure & peaceful. We started off around 8am after breakfast...Again a longjourney by road...by the time we crossed Bhalukpong checkpost of Arunachal,it was 12pm.Now we had to cross over Ballipara, Tezpur,Mangaldoi,to reach Guwahati..... We were all litterlyexhausted & was waiting to get down our vehicle. We planned a stop over at Guwahati & checkedin a hotel Priya palace at Ulubari..it was 6pm...then tried out a sumptous Assamese dinner Thalli at KHORISHKA resturant (recommended by one of our Assamese friend), about a 100mts away from our hotel... Next morning after Darshan & puja at Kamakhay Temple we had to get ready for the airport...
Overall, it had been a wonderful journey to the NE India, which i had sketched in my mind & willever remain as a very refreshing memmory to be cherished.
