DO's & DON'T ABOUT LADAKH TRIP :-
1. Take proper rest upto 36hours atleast...Very less oxygen in the air, So its advisable to more slower and deeper breathing to get use to the low level of oxygen.
2. Avoid taking bath the day u land up at Leh city and let the body get use to the climatic condition there---might feel little hot in summer but don't leave out ur light woollens---U might find ur skin burnt off by the ultravoilet rays to the sun which is very prominent out here. Do use good quality sunglasses to protect ur eyes from the UV rays direct impact.
3. Take boiled water/warm water as much possible,it'll give u more comfort.Don't eat too much as the digestion process gets retarded here. So, can start wommiting out.
4.Alway carry drinking water,dry eatables,dry-fruits, chocolates during travelling across the rugged terrain of Ladakh.
5.Avoid smoking & taking alcohols....
6.In summer(May-Sept.)- carry light woollens,cotton wears,strong walking shoes....Chang'la pass summit always is quite chilled( so, never forget to keep the warm gears along ,while going to PANGONG'TSO across Chang'la...Deskit in Nubra-Valley is quite warm in summer months--so check out proper hotel stay with fan facility there---).
7.Extra batteries for camera,Car charging wire for Digital cameras/Camcorders needs to be carried along while travelling...the view around is terrifying ,so ,may eat up the charges besides the cold climatic effect.
8.Don't useplastic bags ,as it is prohibited in this region....Any kind of wastes don't get decomposed here ,so incase required,throw waste in proper place or carry along .
9. Electricity is a real problem in this region ...
10. Wear proper dresses covering ur body ,while on road or visiting Buddhist Gompas/ monestries.
11.Can get Mountain sicknesses like,severe headache, disturbed sleep,loss of appetite,nausea,coughing,irregular breathing ,lack of concentration,fever, wommitting,drops of flood from nose/mouth, Constipation problems...
12. Take Diamox medicine ,a day before entering the region & then for next 1-2 days.
13. Don't over exert urself,when u first get up to this altitude.
LEH CITY itself is located at an altitude of 11,500ft above sealevel.....
